Ouafaé EL GANAOUI-MOURLAN, HDR

Professor in sustainable mobility HDR and Co-holder of the ECAV chair

Summary

Ouafae El Ganaoui Mourlan, a general engineer graduated from École Centrale Méditerranée and holder of a PhD in fluid mechanics from Université Aix-Marseille II, is a Professor at IFP School. She heads the Research Master's in automotive electrification and propulsion, developed in partnership with École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay. She obtained her Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR) from CentraleSupélec at Université Paris-Saclay.

Since 2019, she has been co-holder of the ECAV chair (Electric Connected and Autonomous Vehicles for Smart Mobility), which supports innovative research projects, the supervision of PhD students and the integration of technological advances into teaching programs. Throughout her career, she has supervised numerous academic works, from final-year projects to PhD theses, in close collaboration with industrial partners.

Before joining IFP School in 2011, she worked at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), where she modeled the transfer of radioactive pollutants in aquatic environments. She then completed a post-doc at IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN), focused on the modeling of injection in internal combustion engines. From 2004 to 2011, she held various strategic positions at Stellantis, covering engine modeling and design as well as industrial auditing.

Since 2020, she has also been Deputy Vice-President of the education committee of the International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies (FISITA), then in 2025 became Vice-President Education, contributing to educational innovation and to developing the skills of tomorrow's engineers.

Her career, marked by complementarity between academic research and industrial application, is fully in line with the challenges of the energy transition and sustainable mobility. She is actively committed to strengthening the bridges between these two worlds to support the development of tomorrow's industrial sectors, while adapting training programs to the needs of industry and to emerging technological challenges.
